Will you be a Reading Ranger?

Our summer reading program was a great success. Together, our students read over 40,000 pages. Pinecrest Moorpark would like to encourage our students to keep reading by presenting the Reading Ranger Program.

The Pinecrest Reading Ranger Program is a voluntary reading program designed to recognize and reward students who are interested in developing a joy of reading by reinforcing the following:

  • Reading is a pleasurable experience.
  • Reading can provide valuable family time.
  • Reading is a knowledge and confidence builder.

Quarterly Requirements:
This is an after school and at home reading program. Only reading that takes place after school or at home will qualify for participation in the Reading Ranger Program.

Kindergarten: A signed book list from parents verifying that at least 10 Books (each quarter) were read at home to a parent or other caregiver. This should be an attainable goal for most of our Kindergarten students.
1st – 3rd Grades: A signed book list from students verified by their parent that at least 1,000 minutes (per quarter) were read at home, to oneself, a parent, or a caregiver.
4th – 5th Grades: A signed book list from students verified by their parent that at least 1,200 minutes (per quarter) were read at home, to oneself, a parent, or a caregiver.

A recognition assembly will be held each quarter for those who meet the quarterly reading goal.

Reading logs are available in the library as well as through the link below:
