Instructor: Mrs. Kim Culhane The art class is a specialty course that is held during school hours and prearranged with the teachers. Lessons are 45 minutes long, once a week with no more than eight students per class. The curriculum includes cartooning, landscape, wildlife, still life and more. The students explore with the use of many mediums such as erasable crayons, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal and pen and ink, according to their age and ability. Enrollment is open to students in Kindergarten through Sixth grade. Classes are taught in 9 week sessions with re-enrollment every 8 weeks. All returning students will be able to continue progressing with their acquired skills. The cost for the 9 week session is $95 per student. Computer Class
The goal of computer lab is to teach children to be comfortable, capable and confident computer users. Children begin using computers in kindergarten as part of Pinecrest's curriculum. Skills learned each year are built upon during the next school year through a carefully planned curriculum designed to take advantage of the continuously evolving technology. Students learn everything from mastery of the mouse and keyboard to the "how's" and "why's" of computing. Challenging computer software pushes the level of learning to the limit. We enjoy the learning process, but the computer at Pinecrest is a tool, not a toy. Children quickly learn the difference and begin to respect the equipment for what it is. Library Librarian: Ms. Sharon Ross The Pinecrest library grows every year. Books are available for research and for leisure reading. Students visit the library each week and may borrow books to take home. Music Class Instructor: Mrs. Carol Romestant
Adjacent to our music room is our piano lab. In this specialty course we provide students with one on one instruction in piano. We are also pleased with the wonderful progress of our "Voice" specialty class. Spanish Class Instructor: Mr. Kevin Zemlicka This course is offered to all Pinecrest students as part of the curriculum. The Spanish program offers students an opportunity to communicate in a different language. It fosters global awareness and heightens our students' appreciation for cultural diversity, and it's fun! Every unit is filled with basic vocabulary and verbal exercises designed for students to speak and have fun while they are in the process of learning a second language. Students are introduced to spelling, grammar and Hispanic cultural information. |
