Fourth graders learned about Haiku poetry by reading Grass Sandals: The Travels of Basho by Dawnine Spivak. The Haiku poems the students wrote after studying the form of the poems in the book, use the traditional Haiku pattern of 3 lines, with 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 3 syllables. |
